What Atheists Understand the Least About Religion

Image
Religion is a subjective concept generally defined as a cultural set of various beliefs and moral codes pertaining to humanity and their relationship with the spiritual; that is, the immaterial, or that which cannot be directly interpreted via conventional sciences. This piece will hereby mostly refer to religion through the term "theism," as it invokes the image of religion in the metaphysical sense rather than the cultural sense. There are many different religions which all make varying claims on the reality of existence and morality. One thing these theistic traditions share in common, particularly the more philosophical ones like Islam and Christianity, is that many atheists (those who reject all religions) seem to always misunderstand the sincerity of their adherents.  Why May Atheists Misunderstand Theism? A major factor in many atheists misrepresenting theism may be their view of all religions and their teachings as simply archaic rulebooks rulers use to control the ma...

Sport Review: 2026 FIFA World Cup

Image
This year, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) international association football (which I will refer to as "soccer" in the rest of this piece for the sake of consistency), beach soccer, and futsal federation held their quadrennial international men's soccer event, the FIFA World Cup, which I will refer to as the "World Cup" in the rest of this piece for the sake of convenience. Hosted in Canada, the United States, and Mexico, this World Cup was particularly divisive, with controversy after controversy coming out of it. I will state my own thoughts of this sporting event. I thought the choice to host across three countries was dumb. I generally think World Cups should be hosted in one country at a time, as multiple countries co-hosting a World Cup raises more expenses and effort for hosts, travelling fans, and the playing teams. Additionally, I felt it was really only the United States that this World Cup was meant for, as the Canadian a...

Deconstructing the Giga

Image
Quite a while ago, the "Gigachad" meme has resurfaced on the mainstream internet. This meme from a few years ago was a celebration of hypermasculinity used for "liking things [the poster] like[d] and disliking things [the poster] dislike[d]" according to the Soyjak Wiki (which I do NOT fully endorse). Although it is being used for this again, it is being done so in even absurder ways. I shall attempt to deconstruct this meme; its relatively recent companion, a housefly known as "Gigafly" that Gigachad often rides as his personal mount; and how they reflect modern society. Gender Norms Gigachad originated from Ernest Khalimov, a Russian bodybuilder. What started as a somewhat digitally altered photo of the man appreciating his physique took off, in part due to how much it embedded stereotypical masculinity: Ernest has very toned muscles, is presumably quite tall, and has a moderately sized beard, a common symbol of manhood. Due to the assumption that men mu...

What Are "Western Values?"

Image
A common objection against Islam from Westerners, particularly socially conservative Americans, is that Islamic values do not comply with "Western values." I have always wondered what Western values are, particularly since it can seem like quite a subjective concept. This article focuses on Islamic values as I am a Muslim, although the idea of something "not being compliant with Western values" is sometimes used by social conservatives to denigrate other beliefs, such as socialism and LGBTQ rights movements. What Are "Islamic Values," and How Have They Been Implemented? Islamic values come from the Sharia, which in turn is derived from the Quran (a holy book) and the Sunnah (the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which are preserved in books of Hadith with unbroken chains of narration tracing back to the Prophet ﷺ), alongside other sources such as scholarly interpretation, logic, and local customs. Through the graphic above, we see the Quran al...

Free Speech Absolutism Does Not Exist: How Every Country Has Blasphemy Laws

Image
Critics of Islam, and of theism in general, often enjoy attacking "Muslim countries" (I say this with quotation marks as I hold the position that unfortunately, no country fully implements Islamic law) for having "blasphemy laws." Blasphemy laws are statutes criminalising insults and contempt towards deities, sacred objects, and religious beliefs. Additionally, many antitheists and leftists like to taunt "insensitive" people for supposedly being "extremely sensitive" to blasphemy. However, I would like to point out that every society has blasphemy laws, and that free speech absolutism is impossible in practice. No Right Is Absolute Contrary to popular belief, constitutions (whether secular or otherwise) do not typically depict rights as unbounded, but rather, simply "protected," and even then, such rights (and therefore the degree of protecting them) are subject to interpretation. For example: Freedom of religion:  One cannot forceful...

My New Year's Resolutions for 2026

Image
  1. Memorise more Quran. 2. Generally gain more wisdom on Islam and other fields to the point I may help others seek knowledge, too. 3. Start putting out my own writing and MAYBE music. 4. Play more games. 5. Discover more music. 6. Make/keep friends I will not regret keeping around. 7. Learn important skills. 8. Get accepted into university (I graduate high school in 2026). 9. Manage my anger better. 10. Become better at coding and developing a game. 11. Make my prom/graduation celebration thingy/whatever not suck. I also wish for the people of Palestine, Sudan, and other oppressed areas to find victory in their struggles, although that is not really a resolution as I cannot personally make this happen. May God give me and the reader the new year we need. Ameen.

How an Ideal Military Would Look Like Under My Control

Image
My friend Mink told me I should write about how a military would look like under my supervision and how it would defend my ideals. I guess I should start by outlining my values first. I'd say my ideal military would be guided by Islamic values, defending Islam and human rights, and never exceeding limits. Now, what do I mean by "human rights?" I do not mean the American attitude of "we must invade every country to bring them dEmOcRaCy," but rather, fighting against inhumane armed forces like those of the Romans and Persians before the blessed Muslim armies rightfully conquered them. Generally speaking, I believe war should be strictly defensive, as preemptive warfare is way too much of a rabbit hole for me to explore to figure out what is and is not moral. With my values being put out of the way, I will focus on the military itself. I believe in constantly updating the arsenal of arms in a military, constantly getting the best version of each weapon. I would say...
