What Atheists Understand the Least About Religion
Religion is a subjective concept generally defined as a cultural set of various beliefs and moral codes pertaining to humanity and their relationship with the spiritual; that is, the immaterial, or that which cannot be directly interpreted via conventional sciences. This piece will hereby mostly refer to religion through the term "theism," as it invokes the image of religion in the metaphysical sense rather than the cultural sense. There are many different religions which all make varying claims on the reality of existence and morality. One thing these theistic traditions share in common, particularly the more philosophical ones like Islam and Christianity, is that many atheists (those who reject all religions) seem to always misunderstand the sincerity of their adherents.
