Ramadan Mubarak! My Ramadan Resolutions

Ramadan Mubarak to those reading this blog. I intended to put out my resolutions for having a productive Ramadan earlier before the Hijri month of Ramadan started a couple of days ago, but I was lazy, so I will put them out now.

  1. Complete my fast successfully everyday. Every day of Ramadan, from sunrise to sunset, I must fast, which means abstaining from eating food, drinking beverages, partaking in sexual intercourse, and partaking in sinful behaviour. I do this every Ramadan successfully, but regardless, I will still put it here.
  2. Praying as many of my daily prayers (Salaat) on time as possible. Unfortunately, due to school, I oftentimes miss some and have to recover them.
  3. Praying Tahajjud often. Tahajjud is a voluntary set of prayers consisting of at least two Rakat (unit of measurement for parts of a Salaat prayer) done late at night when most are asleep. It happens after Isha (the fifth and final Salaat prayer of the day) and before Fajr (the first Salaat prayer of the day).
  4. Go to the mosque for as many Taraweeh prayers as possible. Taraweeh is a set of prayers made up of at least eight Rakat, in addition to Isha (four Rakat), Sunnah prayers (two Rakat after Isha and before Taraweeh), Shafa'a (two Rakat after Taraweeh), and Witr (one Rakat after Shafa'a, can be combined with Shafa'a into three Rakat).
  5. Do more general acts of worship, such as Dhikr (remembrance of God), paying more Sadaqah (voluntary charity, which is not to be confused with Zakaat, which is a requirement to pay at least 2.5% of one's wealth to charity annually), and reading the Quran.
  6. Memorise more Quran. A while ago, I memorised a lot more chapters, and I plan on revising my memorisation of these chapters as well as memorising new chapters.
  7. Learning more about Islam, how to defend it, and how to better myself.

May God help me succeed in all of these the best I can.
